Adding others to this. Wasn't aware they were holding a press conference today. How's this for a response? This is basically a rift off of what we sent WSJ yesterday updated to reflect ICE question.

MAYOR'S OFFICE STATEMENT:
"The Mayor has been crystal clear to President Trump and all federal agencies that the deployment of secret, federal agents or any immigration enforcement will not be tolerated in our city nor would it make Chicago safer.

Under the assurance of U.S. Attorney Lausch, these federal resources are here to coordinate and partner with our local police department on gang and narcotics investigations as well as to assist in prosecuting gun arrests at the federal level. What we've seen over the past few days is not the unconstitutional, undemocratic actions taken in Portland or immigration enforcement but rather additional resources into existing federal agencies that already work with the City, including the FBI, Drug Enforcement Administration and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives — not Immigration and Customs Enforcement or ICE. However, should circumstances change, the Mayor will not hesitate to take decisive action to stop any unwanted and dangerous intrusion. That is why we will be constantly diligent in monitoring activities to ensure that if anything remotely resembles immigration enforcement, we will put an end to it immediately.

"Let us be clear, the Chicago Police Department remains in compliance with the Chicago Welcoming City Ordinance and does not support or cooperate with ICE in their immigration enforcement efforts."

Hi,

Reaching out for comment regarding a press conference today with the FBI.
They announced a $25,000 reward for information on the Vernado Jones homicide case.

When questioned about working with immigration agencies in Chicago during their operation Special Agent Emmerson Buie said they would share information with all federal agencies in crime investigations and I quote:

“The sanctuary city status is not a part of Operation LeGend, and what we are after, the FBI is going to pursue people under the jurisdictions that we have responsibility for to try to make an impact on the crime and the violence in the city, that’s our charge, that’s our mission”

Special Agent Emmerson Buie’s remarks.

What is the city’s response to this?

Thank you,

Benjamin Zamora
